EP's First Ever Video Contest: "Funniest Excuses Kids Make"

Posted by Elisabeth Wilkins

“The dog ate my homework.”

“I lost my cell phone—that’s why I couldn’t call you.”

“I’m late because my friends drive too slow.”

If you’re like most parents, you’ve heard some pretty imaginative excuses along the way. Think of the last time you heard an excuse so ridiculous, you burst out laughing (or at least cracked a smile). Wouldn’t it be great to capture that moment to share with friends and family?

Here’s the fun part: Empowering Parents is giving you the chance to win a new iPad Mini Prize Package, just for telling us the all-time best excuse you’ve ever heard!

All you have to do is take a short video (2 minutes or under) with your smart phone, computer, video camera or tablet, and upload it to our site by midnight EST on March 29, 2013. The video must be relevant to the topic, “Funniest Excuses Kids Make.” Just like with your child’s imagination when it comes to making these things up, the sky is the limit. You can get as low-tech or as high-tech as you like.

Be creative! Feel free to include your kids, your pets, your puppets or your friends if you want. You can recreate the moment, or try to capture it right as it happens. If you have a doozy of an excuse from your own childhood, tell us! Check out the contest promo below for more ideas on how to submit your video.

One winner will be chosen by a panel of Empowering Parents judges and announced on April 5, 2013.
