Q: My child struggles with substance abuse. Can this program help, even if my child is underage?
A: A struggle with substance abuse and addiction is not something most parents envision for their child. When your child is a minor, there are additional considerations that must be taken into account. Life Over The Influence includes a guide of rights and responsibilities for parents of minor children, which outlines how you can best help your child through this struggle.
Q: I have been to Alcoholics Anonymous and counseling. How is this program different?
A: Kimberly Abraham developed the program out of her own experience in dealing with many family members’ substance use-her father, her sister, her husband, and her son. Counseling, Alcoholics Anonymous and other forms of support can be very helpful when your loved one is using substances. Kim used many of these resources on her own journey as well. She found that these resources didn’t always address some of the issues for which she was seeking assistance. This program is designed to help you feel more empowered when addressing your loved one’s substance abuse, in the privacy of your home and at your own pace.
Q: Should I have my loved one listen to the program too?
A: This program is designed for you to use, so you can start to take back control of your life despite your loved one’s struggle with substance use. The techniques are not designed to address substance use directly, rather to empower those who are impacted by others’ substance use.
